It's a new year and Grace Anne and I wish everyone a very happy and healthy 2011! Grace Anne and I have continued to stay busy with book signings and readings! We have had such a fun time reading for some of the local daycare centers, at the Michelson Museum of Art, in our hometown. Grace Anne and I always tour the museum and have learned so much about the arts. Taking your children to not only art museums, though museums of all kinds is such a wonderful learning experience. Next week we will be at the Texas and Pacific Railroad Museum, and we are so excited about this museum. Take your child to a museum, it truly is a unique outing and very educational as well!

Hello Everyone,
Well summer is almost over, school has begun and we will now prepare for my very favorite season Fall!! Though I do believe we still have several good weeks of swimming to get in!!! I love fall, the colors, the long walks the festivals and food. Grace Anne and I are busy planning book signings all around the area! Summer Fun

Happy summertime everyone, I hope everyone had a great Fourth of July!! Grace Anne and I did for sure!! We went to the lake with family and friends, enjoyed the water activities and boat riding, ate some really good food, and saw a beautiful fireworks display. I hope everyone is having a safe and fun summer! Until later.......

Today Grace Anne and I decided to lace up and go for a walk. The weather in Texas is going to get really hot very soon, so we are taking advantage of the lovely early morning time for our walks. Walking is so good for you and Grace Anne simply loves a walk. We saw so many beautiful birds on our walk this morning as well as squirrels playing through-out the neighborhood. Hello Everyone,
I am so excited and thrilled with the publication of my Grace Anne book! Grace Anne and I have had quite a year this past year and are ready to bloom with the beautiful blooms of the season......we want YOU to bloom along with us. Writing a book is fun, as well as a challenge, though as Grace Anne's Mother I believe challenges are for growth, personally I believe we are better people for them. Adventures of ME and GRACE ANNE!

There have been many new adventures in store for Grace Anne and me! As I have said earlier we are re-opening my aunt’s house and loving it, so many wonderful memories. I had two aunts and two uncles, much older than my Mother, they didn’t have children of their own, so for six years I was the only child on the planet, then my sister Donna was born and I learned quickly to share. That is what my first book is about, sharing and telling the truth, even when it is hard to do. It is a lesson all must learn and Grace Anne and her Cousin Emily did as well.

I could really have pulled this story from many of my childhood memories, and I guess I did, for my Cousin Sarah Lynn and I shared many moments as Grace Anne and Emily do. Though this story I really pulled from Grace Anne herself. My oldest son Duncan lives in Dallas, Texas, he came home one week-end and brought a guest, complete with her dog, Clyde. I showed them to the guest bedroom, along with a big bag of toys she had packed for Clyde. Well as the week-end progressed I noticed that Clyde’s toys were ending up in my bedroom where Grace Anne sleeps in her snuggly “Mouse BED”. That week-end we had to give Clyde’s toys back to him and Grace Anne did not want to, though as the true Southern Mother I am, Grace Anne needed help in learning her lesson of sharing and telling the truth!

So many adventures await Grace Anne and I…we LOVE adventure. If you are the Mother of the Groom, be sure to keep watch on my blog, for I am going to venture off with my “Big Sorority Sis”, Karen Reed Oney, .…I have to give a shout out to all Alpha Phi sisters….Love you’ll. We want to hear from all of you “Southern Mamas”...… Who prefer not to wear beige and do not sit in the corner! It will be an educational and fun blog; we want to hear from you. We promise we shall be NICE!!!!!

Well thirty years ago tonight I gave birth to my first son, Duncan Kyle Furrh….”Happy Birthday” Duncan, I am so very, very proud of you. One day I shall write a book about “My Three Son’s”… Duncan, Drew and Donlee , what a fabulous adventure of love, life and pure fun! I love you guy’s totally!!

A very happy Thanksgiving to you all!

Take this season to remember someone who may not have a table to come to, bring them to your table, and continue that throughout your lives.

After my last son graduated High School I found my home quiet for the first time in many years, I also heard my passion calling me…. writing! I re-invented something from my social work days, and opened a private practice as a Life Coach; I specialize in building and working on self esteem issues from teens to adults, as well as preventive and pre-divorce coaching. I am a Home Studies Investigator, as well, specializing in adoption placements, both in the states as well as abroad. I also prepare studies for the courts in custody disputes. I was instrumental in starting “For Kids Sake” in my home County, in the early 1990’s. This is a required program that both parents are ordered to attend when getting a divorce. I am embracing both of my passions writing and people. I freelance write for the local paper, a magazine called Family Matters. I will blog about that another day, though if you are a fan of the “Hummingbird”, you will not want to miss how I landed this job! I like the personal feel and touch of my practice where I love to see others learn that is very much o.k. to bloom! There is simply nothing more joyful than seeing someone begin to grow into a confident, secure, and not only a productive member of society, a happy one who, in their own skin can breathe the scent of the blossom.

I love me private practice it is in town in my aunt’s home of which I along with my Mother and sister inherited. When speaking at her funeral I told those gathered, if you ever pass by 507 Woodland Road, it is just a small little home on the corner of the street, though the simple joy’s, memories, and love shared in that little home will carry me through-out my life time. They built the home in 1952, (I still have the magazines she used in designing every detail), and I am taking it back to a 50’s retro with a splash of 60’s throughout! My clients feel this simplicity, this warmth, it is a step back in time to a slower walk, and one I think is perfect for the soul……. just the right prescription.

I am adding to my favorites a few new links; I will blog about them later though I think you would enjoy them. I attended Jeff Davis’s “Yoga to Muse” writers retreat in New York last summer. Danial Asa Rose was there as well and working on his book, “My Cousin Larry’s Kidney”. It is a available in book store’s now and is a fabulous read.

Oh, I almost forgot, Grace Anne has already decided she will be Dorothy from the wizard of Oz for Halloween, and yes she even has a wig to go with her theme of choice. I shall go as her ever faithful dog “Toto”….we can hardly wait; I will post pictures for sure! What are you and your little ones going to be for Halloween, Grace Anne and I would love to hear!
